WAITING FOR MARTIN

Is the story of three homeless teens, Solomon, Pete and Rose in the early sixties.  Their campsite is the yard of an old abandoned shack.  Pete and Rose are siblings and want to move to a better place so they can showcase their talents in dance.  However, their friend Solomon wants to stay.  Solomon believes Martin will come their way, “Because he always comes where colored people are having trouble.”  So, the three stay and to pass the time they play, tell stories and Wait for Martin to come.

WATCH

Waiting for Martin debuted for three sold out performances at Duke University’s Reynolds Theatre.  Later with the help of Phil Szostak and Szostak Design almost 8,000 public school students saw a performance at the then newly constructed Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC).  After which the show took a week long residency at The Grand Opera House in Dubuque, Iowa.
